NBA YoungBoy to be Released from Alabama Prison in July

According to public records, the popular rapper NBA YoungBoy is scheduled to be released from prison on July 27, 2025. The 25-year-old artist, whose legal name is Kentrell Gaulden, is currently incarcerated at the Talladega Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Alabama.

According to a report by All Hip Hop DX, YoungBoy’s current imprisonment is a result of a plea deal he agreed to regarding a gun possession charge and his participation in a prescription medication fraud scheme. The private agreement, made in September 2024, compelled the rapper to acknowledge his possession of several illegal firearms during the filming of a music video in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 2020.

YoungBoy initially agreed to a sentence of 23 months in prison, along with five years of probation and a $200,000 fine. Additionally, he was required to surrender the firearms involved in the case. However, there was a modification to his sentencing, which resulted in a reduction considering the time he has already served until May 2024. As a result, he is now set to be released this summer.
