A Napoleon contractor facing various civil and criminal cases in northwest Ohio was arrested Saturday on felony theft charges, according to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office in Defiance arrested Joseph Schlosser, 26, on two fourth-degree counts, according to a warrant. He was then sent to Paulding County.
The warrant and indictment for the offenses were issued on March 13.
According to court filings, Schlosser was hired by an elderly widow living in Paulding County who claims she hired him to repair a floor leak in her home in November 2024. She paid Schlosser approximately $3,000 for the task, but according to records, Schlosser acknowledged not having commenced any work, and his company is filing for bankruptcy.
Schlosser paid a $2,500 bond and was freed from sheriff’s office custody on Monday.
Schlosser is also facing two fourth-degree felony theft charges in Henry County and a civil case in Lucas County. Last Monday, he was found responsible in Defiance County for damages totaling more than $230,000.
