U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued a warrant for Johnathan Stanley Garcia-Vasquez on charges of aggravated homicide and affiliation with terrorist organizations. Enforcement and Removal Operations Newark and the FBI Newark supported ICE in making the arrest, according to authorities.
U.S. Border Patrol agents first spotted Garcia on June 9, 2016, near Hidalgo, Texas, and provided him with a notice and order for expedited removal, according to officials. Authorities remanded Garcia in ERO custody until an immigration judge granted him bond in 2017 and released him from ICE detention.
The Specialized Magistrate’s Court of San Miguel, El Salvador, issued Garcia’s arrest warrant in 2018, according to authorities. Later that year, an immigration judge ordered Garcia’s removal from the United States in absentia, but he did not surrender, according to authorities.
Garcia is in ERO custody awaiting deportation from the United States.
