The Mississippi National Guard (MSNG) will send 200 service members to assist the District of Columbia National Guard (DCNG) at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025.
Soldiers and airmen from the 112th Military Police Battalion, 172nd Airlift Wing, and 186th Air Refueling Wing will leave Thompson Field Air National Guard Base in Flowood on January 17, 2025.
According to the MSNG, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) declared the inauguration a National Special Security Event, requesting that the DCNG and its supporting units help local authorities during the ceremony, parade, and related activities.
MSNG servicemen will work with the DCNG Joint Task Force to provide Defense Support of Civil Authorities to federal and District of Columbia agencies.
