A man from Mississippi was recently sentenced in Columbia County, Florida, after being charged with manufacturing counterfeit money and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Bryan Chapman, who is 27 years old, has been sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in federal prison by the Department of Justice. Additionally, the court has ordered Chapman to forfeit a Bushmaster pistol, ammunition, and a printer. Furthermore, he is required to return the funds he obtained through his fraudulent activities to the victims.
According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Chapman made a journey from Tennessee to Florida between late 2023 and January 2024. Throughout his trip, he engaged in the production of counterfeit money and proceeded to utilize it at multiple businesses.
In January 2024, the CCSO deputy conducted an investigation of a vehicle in which Chapman was riding as a passenger. During the investigation, the CCSO discovered a loaded firearm, ammunition, and equipment for producing counterfeit money. They also found 78 counterfeit $20 bills and 35 incomplete counterfeit $20 bills.
The CCSO discovered that Chapman was currently out on bond for a felony firearm charge in Mississippi and had previously been convicted of aggravated assault in Tennessee.
