Michigan Woman Wins $1 Million Powerball Win A Secret Till Christmas To Surprise Her Family!

A woman from Wayne County in Michigan pleasantly surprised her family on Christmas by revealing that she had won a $1 million Powerball prize from the Michigan Lottery.

Catherine Martin, a 63-year-old woman, purchased her winning ticket from MD Westland LLC, which is situated at 32919 Cherry Hill Road in Westland.

In the September 4 drawing last year, she successfully matched the five white balls and emerged as the lucky winner of the grand prize: 07-10-21-33-59.

“I play Powerball every week and use a special set of numbers,” said Martin. “The day after the drawing, I got a call from my husband while I was at work telling me that he checked my Powerball ticket, and I’d won $1 million! I was stunned and had a hard time believing him. Honestly, I still don’t believe it!”

Martin mentioned that they decided to keep their victory a secret until Christmas, when they could surprise their family with the news.

After claiming her prize, she expressed her intentions to wisely invest the money, as well as save for her retirement and contribute to her grandkids’ college funds.

“Lottery games, like Powerball, give players a chance to win prizes that will have a profound impact on their lives,” said Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli. “It is incredibly rewarding to hear how this prize will not only have a positive impact on the winner, but on her grandchildren as well, as she plans to put a portion of her winnings towards their college educations. Congratulations Catherine!”

You can buy Powerball plays for $2 each from lottery retailers in the state or online. The drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
