Mexican National Sentenced To More Than 11 Years In Prison For Drug Trafficking In Texas

A Mexican national has been sentenced to over 11 years in federal prison for cocaine trafficking in the Eastern District of Texas. Audivier Martinez-Gomez, 24, of Oaxaca, Mexico, pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Martinez-Gomez was sentenced to 135 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Michael Truncale on March 11, 2025, according to Acting United States Attorney Abe McGlothin, Jr. The allegations stem from a June 18, 2024 incident in which Martinez-Gomez was recognized as a passenger in a car stopped for speeding in a construction zone on Interstate 10 near Beaumont. During the halt, Martinez-Gomez and his wife, who was driving, told conflicting versions about their journey and were nervous.

A consent-based search of the vehicle uncovered THC edibles in the passenger compartment and big waste sacks with various bags of crystal methamphetamine totaling 29.6 kilograms in the trunk. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Matt Quinn.
