A man wanted for murder in North Carolina was apprehended after more than a decade on the run.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office announced that Omar Gray, who had been wanted for 18 years after being charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, had been apprehended in California.
A Robeson County Grand Jury indicted Gray on May 15, 2007, according to authorities. A nationwide manhunt was subsequently started, landing Gray on America’s Most Wanted and an Interpol Red Notice.
The SBI claimed Gray was apprehended in Los Angeles, California, under the pseudonym “Timothy Bloxson” after being arrested on unrelated crimes and fingerprinted.
Authorities said a forensic examination of the fingerprints revealed that “Bloxson” was Omar Gray.
On Tuesday, North Carolina extradited Gray, who is currently in detention.
