According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a man was detained after officers claimed he choked a woman and then used a shovel to attack the dog defending her.
Geoffrey Anderson, 32, of Worthington, was booked into North Central Regional Jail on Wednesday following a domestic altercation on January 9th.
When the victim asked Anderson to leave the house, he grabbed her by the throat and choked her. As she tried to get him off of her, her dog began attacking Anderson in self-defense, according to authorities.
Anderson grabbed a nearby metal shovel and whacked the dog in the head, causing a huge cut above the left eye, according to court filings.
Anderson is charged with cruelty to animals and domestic battery and is currently in NCRJ with no bond set at this time.
