The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a shooting report near Kingsley Drive on Monday afternoon. Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim with non-life-threatening injuries lying in a baseball field near Twain Elementary School.
A second individual, a woman, was found at a nearby home with visible injuries. She was transported to a hospital by ambulance and was reported to have multiple injuries. Police confirmed that the woman and the victim found in the field were known to each other.
While the investigation is still in its early stages, CSPD has not made any arrests, though they stated that everyone involved in the shooting has been accounted for.
As a precaution, Twain Elementary School was placed on secure status, meaning no one was allowed to enter or exit the building. District officials later confirmed that students were safely dismissed under a “safe dismissal” process.
