A high-speed chase on Friday morning led to the arrest of a Virginia man who had crossed state lines, according to Currituck County deputies.
Travis Darden, a resident of Chesapeake, is now facing multiple charges according to the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office. These charges include felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, failure to heed lights and siren, reckless driving to endanger, failure to stop at a red light, and speeding.
Around 8:15 a.m., law enforcement officers attempted to pull over a speeding Acura sedan heading south on Highway 158 near Barco. They were pursuing the vehicle due to reports of reckless driving.
Deputies reported that Darden, aged 36, declined to stop, resulting in a pursuit where he executed a sudden U-turn and accelerated northwards at a high velocity.
The chase came to a halt in Virginia as deputies followed Darden, considering the road conditions and the safety of other drivers.
Fortunately, due to effective collaboration with the Chesapeake Police Department, the man was promptly apprehended and taken into custody by the deputies.
The man was arrested and transported to the Chesapeake City Jail after deputies invoked the “Run You’re Done Law” and had his car towed.
