A man from Los Angeles has been arrested on charges of attempting to exploit two women from Denver for prostitution, and authorities are now seeking additional victims.
On Monday, Denver District Attorney Beth McCann revealed that 48-year-old Murlin Swanston was detained on suspicion of attempting to coerce the two women, whom he met on online commercial sex platforms. However, the investigation suggests that there may be many more victims involved.
The District Attorney stated that since 2021, Swanston allegedly reached out to thousands of women across the country through online channels, attempting to lure them into his sex trafficking operation. Many of these women are believed to have been engaged in commercial sex work. Swanston was arrested in California and is currently in custody.
Formal charges will be filed in Denver once Swanston is extradited to Colorado, though the date for his transfer remains undetermined. The District Attorney emphasized that more victims may be located in the Denver area and encouraged anyone with relevant information to reach out to Investigator Joe DeAngelo in the Human Trafficking Unit at 720-913-9108.
