Lyon County Deputies Arrested A Man On Firearms Charges And Learn He Is Also Wanted In Oregon

A man in northern Nevada is currently facing child sex crimes in Oregon and gun charges in his local area.

Just after 2 p.m., the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a fight involving two males, one of whom was armed, on Fourth Avenue in Mason. Deputies in Yerington were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Scott Shepard, the man in question, was reported to have returned to the house with the gun before the arrival of the deputies, according to witnesses.

When the deputies arrived at the scene, the residents informed them that Shepard had aimed the gun at them.

Shepard was apprehended without any shots being fired, and he was taken into custody after 35 minutes.

The authorities eventually concluded that the gun was actually a replica BB gun model.

Shepard was charged by the deputies with Assault with a Deadly Weapon. During the process, they discovered that Shepard had multiple outstanding felony warrants issued for his arrest in Oregon.

He is currently facing charges that include 10 counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, 10 counts of Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, as well as Identity Theft and related computer crimes.

After appearing before a judge for the local charges, he will be handed over to authorities in Oregon to face the aforementioned charges.
