Louisiana State Police have arrested a man in the death of a Washington Parish school board member

Louisiana State Police have arrested a man accused of selling drugs to a Washington Parish school board member and political candidate, who later overdosed.

Frankie Crosby Sr., 67, died on October 6, according to Franklinton police, who discovered him in his vehicle on the 1400 block of Parker Street. He had taken a fatal combination of cocaine and fentanyl, according to the Washington Parish coroner.

State police, working with the Franklinton Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies, identified Dayon Dyson, 50, as the guy who allegedly provided the cocaine to Crosby. A news release stated that Dyson’s detention occurred on December 7.

Charges of second-degree murder and fentanyl distribution led to Dyson’s arrest in Franklinton. Should the charges hold true, Dyson could potentially spend his entire life behind bars.

“We are taking decisive steps to crack down on fentanyl-related cases and ensure the safety of our citizens,” State Police spokesperson Trooper Marc Gremillion wrote in the release.
