A magnitude 3.3 earthquake was detected in Chesapeake, Ohio, on Monday, but it was felt as far away as Kentucky and West Virginia.
The United States Geological Survey observed the earthquake’s epicenter about 4:39 p.m. EST, just 2.1 miles northwest of Chesapeake. Reports of the earthquake range from Ona and Barboursville in West Virginia to Catlettsburg, Ky.
Most of the impacted locations reported an intensity level of 3-4, which is considered weak to light and causes no damage. Reports indicate that the earthquake occurred at a depth of approximately 14 miles.
