Tip and Tiny emerged victorious with a $71 million judgment as a result of the jury’s ruling against MGA Entertainment. The jury found that MGA had used the likeness of OMG Girlz, a musical group formed by Tiny in 2009, without providing any form of compensation, recognition, or consent.
According to the Los Angeles Times, MGA had plans to release a line of dolls inspired by the girl group, but no agreements were ever finalized with Pretty Hustle, owned by Harris, or Grand Hustle, owned by T.I. In 2019, MGA introduced their OMG Dolls, which bore a striking resemblance to the OMG Girlz.
Following a mistrial in January 2023, the Harris family went through a second trial last May, which MGA emerged victorious from. However, Tip and Tiny were granted a retrial several months later. The final trial took place in Santa Ana, Calif., lasting for three weeks and concluding in September. As of now, Judge Selna has yet to make a final decision regarding the Harris’ judgment.
“There’s a lot to contemplate,” stated the judge, as reported by legal reporter Meghann Cuniff. “I want to put this down for a couple of days and come back to it with fresh eyes.”
