Anthonie Ruinard Jr. faced arrest last year for his alleged involvement in the murder of an 18-year-old man who was visiting Arizona from Nebraska. Presently, the suspect is being charged with federal fraud.
A murder suspect, who is accused of killing and dismembering 18-year-old Parker League last summer, is now being charged with fraud for allegedly scamming investors in Arizona.
Anthonie Ruinard Jr., aged 39 and residing in Chandler, has been charged by a federal grand jury for his alleged involvement in an investment scheme that defrauded 54 victims of $5.4 million.
According to court records, Ruinard is said to have portrayed himself as a prosperous investor with a net worth exceeding $400 million. He purportedly persuaded people to invest significant amounts of money in his company, Legacy Investors Group Inc. The investment contracts offered a monthly return of 5% to the investors.
According to federal officials, Ruinard allegedly used a significant portion of the investments for personal gain, indulging in luxury cars, casino gambling, and rent payments.
Legacy reached out to investors in 2022, urging them to exercise patience regarding the payout timeline for their investments.
“We not only offer exceptional returns, but we also prioritize capital preservation through a meticulously crafted set of investment strategies that Legacy has tirelessly refined over the years,” said Ruinard in the email communication.
The indictment states that the alleged fraud took place from 2020 to March 2023.
In June 2023, Ruinard came under suspicion for a violent crime that took place in the Tonto National Forest. It was discovered that the remains of Parker League, a Nebraska resident who was visiting a friend in Arizona, were found in a bonfire pit.
When Ruinard was arrested in the summer of 2023 for the murder of League, the arrest documents stated that his employer was “Legacy Investor Group.”
The murder case of Ruinard is currently awaiting a verdict in Maricopa County Superior Court. If found guilty of the federal fraud charges, Ruinard may potentially face a significant prison sentence.
