A 38-year-old police captain named Edwin Hodson has been arrested for drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident. The collision, which involved his Ford Explorer police interceptor, is being investigated as a hit-and-run.

In addition, he involved his wife and father-in-law in the matter, and they are facing charges for allegedly attempting to assist in concealing the incident.

Police officers were called to the scene after receiving reports of a 2020 Ford Explorer colliding with a rock. The vehicle involved in the incident was a marked police car belonging to the town of Cicero, known as the “Cicero Police Department.” Upon investigation, it was found that the car had veered off the road.

According to Lora Hodson, she was behind the wheel of the SUV during the incident as her husband Edwin was under the influence of alcohol. She further mentioned that Edwin left the scene on foot after the collision.

According to Fox 58, Edwind had a dashcam installed in his SUV, which recorded him calling his wife to inform her about the accident. In the conversation, she expressed her concern about him driving a police vehicle while intoxicated. Shortly after, she arrived at the scene and they discussed the possibility of switching seats.

Lora reached out to her father, seeking assistance in her predicament. In a recorded video, her father can be seen instructing Edwin to vacate the driver’s seat. Furthermore, he was aware that law enforcement was on the lookout for the accident but neglected to report it.

Edwin faced charges for driving under the influence, putting someone at risk, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Lora was accused of false informing and aiding, inducing, or causing someone to leave the scene of an accident. Similarly, her father faced the same charges.
