The California Highway Patrol (CHP) conducted a two-day Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) that began at 6:01 p.m. on December 24 and ended at 11:59 p.m. on December 25.
CHP stated in a Facebook post on Thursday that they worked for two days to guarantee that everyone arrived safely at their holiday locations.
With the release of the MEP data, the CHP said, “The holidays should be a time of celebration, not tragedy. Let’s continue to prioritize safety and responsibility on the road.”
In California, authorities arrested about 308 people for driving under the influence.
There were around 3,835 penalties issued, which included speeding, seatbelt violations, and other traffic infractions.
The CHP conducted about 7,622 enforcement actions throughout the holidays, demonstrating their dedication to road safety.
