The Coast Guard, along with the Palos Verdes Estates Police and other agencies, initiated a search for the two missing men, both in their 50s, on Tuesday. During the search, they discovered their overturned vessel, as announced by the Coast Guard.
After searching for nearly 34 hours, utilizing drones and a helicopter, the federal agency made the decision to suspend its search for the fishermen on Wednesday. This decision was made due to the absence of any signs indicating distress.
The search was temporarily halted by the Coast Guard, but they referred to it as an “active suspension.” This means that if any signs of distress are reported, they will resume the search. This information was reported by CBS News.
The ownership of the leg by one of the fishermen is not immediately evident.
“We are keeping all possibilities open, but as of now, no decisions have been made,” stated Belda in an interview with The Daily News. “There has been no confirmation of the identity, and we do not possess any evidence to suggest that these incidents are linked.”
