Virginia gym crimes

The backstory: According to the Fairfax County police, a series of commercial gyms in Hybla Valley, Huntington, and Springfield were targeted by a 49-year-old man named Robert Brockington. From December 1 to December 16, he broke into lockers, stole credit cards, and proceeded to make purchases using them.

Brockington, a repeat offender with a history of almost 60 larceny charges in Virginia since 2012, has been apprehended in Washington, D.C. Currently, he is held in custody in D.C. and is awaiting extradition to Northern Virginia.

In 2017, Brockington was arrested and faced similar larceny charges, as shown in a prior arrest photo obtained by FOX 5.

Police believe that he continued his pattern of theft, even though many of his past cases were eventually dropped.

Members of the gym who frequent one of the impacted locations expressed a sense of relief upon learning about the arrest. Many shared that they now feel safer knowing that Brockington has been taken off the streets.
