A wild crime spree unfolded in Saginaw County, Georgia, when Darion K. Smith, a 30-year-old man, embarked on a series of criminal activities. Smith now finds himself facing 16 criminal charges, all of which originated from his visit to the Bootlegger Party Store.
After inquiring about the presence of surveillance cameras in the store or its vicinity, Smith proceeded to leave and came across an elderly man in the parking lot.
The culprit forcefully shoved the elderly man to the ground, snatching his wallet in a swift motion, before hastily escaping in a sleek SUV. Surveillance footage captured the perpetrator, revealing a firearm visibly tucked into his waistband. Authorities managed to acquire a partial license plate number from the getaway vehicle.
After a warrant for his arrest was issued, authorities initiated a search to locate him. Several days later, law enforcement officers were called to an apartment complex following multiple reports of a person attempting to break into cars parked in the lot.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they uncovered Smith in the act of breaking into the vehicles. Despite their loud commands, he chose to disregard them.
In an attempt to prevent his escape, the officers were confronted by the suspect. With a swift swing, he managed to elude their grasp and quickly hopped into a white SUV. As he made his getaway, he recklessly struck two police officers with the vehicle.
Smith raced away with the headlights switched off, disregarded a red light, and collided with a cement barrier. Subsequently, he lost his footing and tumbled on a patch of ice in his attempt to flee.
