C. Shanelle Booker has been appointed as the Acting U.S. Attorney by the United States Attorney’s Office of the Middle District of Georgia.
Booker assumed the position on January 12th.
Booker has made history as the first black person and first black woman to assume the role of top law enforcement officer, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Since 2015, she has dedicated her career to serving the residents of the Middle District of Georgia as a federal prosecutor.

As the Acting U.S. Attorney, Booker will oversee a broad jurisdiction that encompasses 70 of Georgia’s 159 counties, as well as several significant cities in the SGA region, including Albany, Athens, Columbus, Macon, and Valdosta. In this role, Booker will be responsible for prosecuting a wide range of federal crimes, such as terrorism, child exploitation, illegal gang activities, narcotics offenses, and more.
