Fugitive Wanted In Virginia Apprehended In Whitesboro

A fugitive from Virginia, who was wanted by the authorities, has been apprehended in the peaceful Village of Whitesboro, New York.

Hasimba C. Brown, aged 41 and hailing from Richmond, Virginia, was apprehended on January 21, as confirmed by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

In mid-January, the NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force–Utica Division, consisting of personnel from the Sheriff’s Office, Utica Police Department, Oneida County Probation, New Hartford Police Department, and U.S. Marshals, collaborated to track down and apprehend Brown.

Brown, currently on parole in Virginia for a manslaughter conviction in New York, is being sought by the Chesterfield County Virginia Sheriff’s Office. The charges against him include:

    • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (felony)
    • Abduction by force (felony)
    • Malicious assault (felony)
    • Burglary (felony)
    • Burglary with intent to commit murder (felony)
    • Robbery with serious bodily injury (felony)
    • Robbery with serious bodily injury (conspiracy) (felony)

The Task Force members were able to apprehend Brown in Whitesboro without any incident.

Brown appeared in Oneida County Court on January 22, where he willingly agreed to be extradited back to Virginia.

Following his arraignment, Brown found himself confined to the Oneida County Jail without the prospect of bail, awaiting his extradition to Virginia.
