Former Charter School Director Indicted For Theft And Misconduct In Illinois

The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 2 has recently revealed charges against Emily A. Wallen, a former executive director of Jackson Charter School. These charges come after an extensive investigation into allegations of theft and official misconduct.

In September 2024, Wallen, 39, was accused of misusing school funds for personal gain during her time at the school. The report prompted a thorough investigation by the ISP and collaboration with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Evidence suggests that Wallen was aware and intentionally used funds from Jackson Charter School for her personal benefit. Consequently, an arrest warrant was issued on February 24, 2025, charging Wallen with one count of Theft $10,000 – $100,000, classified as a Class 2 Felony, as well as one count of Official Misconduct, classified as a Class 3 Felony.

After his arrest, Wallen was taken to the Winnebago County Jail. No additional information about the case has been disclosed at this time.
