A 56-year-old woman from Gainesville, Florida, admitted on Monday to stealing health benefits for her daughter from California after they relocated to Florida.
Leanne Michelle Hawk, who was supposed to receive her sentence on July 17, admitted guilt to two felony charges of grand theft. Court records reveal that she also faced a sentencing enhancement for committing an aggravated white collar crime, involving an amount between $100,000 to $500,000.
Hawk, who faced charges in August 2022, was apprehended in August 2023.
Hawk allegedly obtained in-home support services for her daughter after they relocated to Florida, as stated in the criminal complaint.
