Father Livestreams Attempted Murder of Child Safety Worker in Arizona

De’Andre Terrell Johnson, a 32-year-old Arizona father, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly livestreaming an attack on a Department of Child Safety (DCS) worker. The incident took place on November 5, 2024, at the Mesa Tower, where Johnson had a meeting with the DCS worker regarding the custody of his child.

According to authorities, during the meeting, Johnson asked the worker to introduce himself to viewers and later, as the meeting concluded, grabbed him in a chokehold. Johnson repeatedly told the worker, “You’re a dead man,” while holding him in a chokehold for approximately 2.5 minutes. The DCS worker was left unconscious with serious facial injuries.

Shocking live stream footage shows Johnson continuing the attack while speaking directly to the camera, threatening the worker and declaring, “Go ahead, call the cops, I’ll be waiting.” After dropping the unresponsive worker face-first onto the floor, Johnson left the scene.

Mesa police tracked Johnson to Scottsdale hours later, where he fled from officers. Despite attempts to stop his vehicle using a grappler net and PIT maneuvers, Johnson continued to evade police until his arrest.

The victim, who had previously met with Johnson regarding his daughter, described the encounter as increasingly aggressive and stated he realized Johnson was trying to kill him. The victim’s injuries were described as life-threatening, and he was hospitalized for treatment.

Johnson is being held on a $500,000 bond, facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and unlawful flight. The Arizona Department of Child Safety has expressed its commitment to reviewing the incident and ensuring the safety of its workers.
