Deputies Use Drone To Find Missing Woman In Southwest Franklin County Following Reported Crash

A crash was reported in southwest Franklin County early Sunday morning, resulting in an injury to a woman, according to officials.

Early Sunday morning, patrol units from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to a report of a crash at the intersection of Norton Road and state Route 665 in Darbydale.

When the deputies arrived, they discovered an empty vehicle that had visible blood inside. This led them to immediately initiate a search for possible victims, as reported by the sheriff’s office.

According to the sheriff’s office, while conducting the search, a resident reported that a young woman came to his door seeking assistance, claiming to have been involved in a car accident.

According to the resident, the woman departed from his residence and fled towards the Oak Hills trailer park.

At around 3:10 a.m., the deputies were still unable to find the woman despite their search efforts. Consequently, they called for reinforcements from the drone unit. A drone was promptly deployed and successfully detected a heat signature in the vicinity of Osprey Lake in Galloway.

The sheriff’s office reported that units successfully located the woman who had fallen approximately 15 feet down an embankment and was unable to free herself.

The woman suffered from multiple broken bones and frostbite and was taken to Mount Carmel Grove City hospital for treatment. Fortunately, her condition is now stable.
