A 14-year-old boy, who had been snowmobiling with family and friends near the Utah-Idaho border, was miraculously found alive on Sunday morning, a day after he went missing in Logan Canyon.

On Saturday afternoon, search and rescue teams were dispatched to find the boy who had gotten separated from his group.

The search for the missing boy in Franklin County, Idaho began when his group noticed his absence and couldn’t find him nearby. The Cache County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team, along with Franklin County officials, initiated search efforts at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 8. The Utah Department of Public Safety also joined the operation, deploying a helicopter to aid in the search.

Crews received multiple pings from the boy’s cellphone, but despite their efforts, they were unable to establish contact with him. In the early hours of Sunday, February 9th, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office dispatched a team to replace the Cache County crew, who had been working tirelessly throughout the night in extreme arctic-like weather, with temperatures hovering around -15F.

Search and rescue teams from Franklin County, Cache County, Weber County, Box Elder County, and numerous volunteers tirelessly conducted search operations throughout the night. Eventually, the young boy was found in White Canyon, Franklin County, during the mid-morning hours on Sunday.

Franklin County Sheriff Stoker has confirmed that the boy was discovered cold, but thankfully, he is in good spirits and overall healthy. The family is overjoyed and relieved to have him back, and they wasted no time in reuniting with him. As a precautionary measure, they took him to the hospital for an evaluation.

Sheriff Stoker, in response to a question about the boy’s residency, indicated that he was not from Idaho. However, he did not disclose whether the boy was from Utah.
