A closer look at the criminal complaints provides us with more information about a series of car burglaries that occurred in Davenport during the summer.
On Wednesday, November 20, law enforcement officials arrested Dillan Silvers, a 20-year-old resident of Davenport, who now faces multiple charges related to these burglaries.
According to the criminal complaint, the Davenport Police received a report of a vehicle burglary on June 2nd in the 1300 block of E. 37th Street. During the interview, the complainant informed the officers that a suspect vehicle, occupied by two men, drove by.
Later, the officers discovered the abandoned vehicle on 39th Street, which turned out to be stolen. Interestingly, the license plates on the stolen vehicle matched those from the burglarized vehicle. The burglary involved the theft of a 9 mm gun, as well as various clothing items and the vehicle’s license plate.
Remarkably, Silvers’ fingerprints were found on the license plate that he had switched. Additionally, a witness positively identified Silvers through a photo lineup as the individual in possession of the stolen vehicle and involved in the burglary of another victim’s vehicle.
On June 27th, at approximately 4:23 a.m., the Davenport police received a report of a burglary in the 500 block of N. Howell Street. Silvers and his co-defendants unlawfully entered the victim’s garage, with no rights or privileges to the property.
Surveillance footage captured them conspiring and collaborating to steal the victim’s 1986 Harley Davidson Grand Touring motorcycle. Additionally, they broke the window of the victim’s Chevrolet Express van and stole a garage door opener.
According to a criminal complaint in the case, Davenport Police responded to a vehicle burglary on August 6 at approximately 9:29 a.m. The incident occurred in the 2300 block of N. Howell Street. Silvers and his co-defendants are accused of breaking into the vehicle and stealing multiple items.
Silvers allegedly encouraged his co-defendant, who is a minor, to engage in delinquent behavior. The complaint states that Silvers has been involved in numerous vehicle and garage burglaries throughout the city. During these burglaries, Silvers would inform others when he found a firearm.
As a result of this incident, Silvers is facing charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor (a misdemeanor) and third-degree burglary of a motor vehicle (a felony). The complaint also mentions that Silvers assisted in stealing three electric bicycles and tools.
Davenport Police made a traffic stop on a Ford F-150 on August 12 at around 6:47 p.m. due to an inoperable center brake light and expired registration. During the stop, officers discovered that Silvers had a stolen P320 handgun on the floorboard of his vehicle. The weapon was found to have Silvers’ fingerprints on it.
Additionally, Silvers and his co-defendants were seen in possession of the stolen firearm in various photos, videos, and during a traffic stop, suggesting that they were involved in trafficking the firearm among themselves.
Officers confiscated two stolen firearms, illegal narcotics, and cell phones. They examined Silvers’ cell phone and discovered conversations between Silvers and his co-defendants.
The criminal complaint states, “It is evident that the group collaborated to partake in illegal activities, such as vehicle and garage burglaries, with the intention of profiting from these acts.
These incidents occurred between June and August of 2024. Through their investigation, officers determined that this group committed multiple burglaries during that time period. They would distribute the stolen goods amongst themselves and promote and sell them on social media and local establishments.”
On September 19, Davenport Police were called to investigate a case of stolen property. According to the criminal complaint, Silvers knowingly exchanged a stolen bicycle for a Levnovo laptop valued at $2,900.
Silvers deceived the victim by trading the stolen item in order to obtain the laptop. Silvers is accused of selling the laptop with the intention of depriving the victim of their belongings. Silvers will have a preliminary hearing for these charges on November 26.
