Complete road closures on US 60 in Pinal County due to rock blasting

Travelers heading to Globe or Show Low may have to consider taking a different route, as the Arizona Department of Transportation is currently carrying out construction projects on U.S. 60 in Miami, Arizona.

Road closures will be in effect on Wednesday, Jan. 22 and Thursday, Jan. 23, due to preparations for two significant construction projects. Additional closures are scheduled for Jan. 28, 29, and 30.

The rock blasting procedure is essential for construction crews when it comes to removing large boulders and debris during construction projects, such as the Queen Creek and Waterfall Canyon Bridge Replacement Projects.

According to a release by ADOT, the bridge projects are situated on US 60 at mileposts 227 and 229.5 near the town of Superior in Pinal County.

During the construction period, the speed limits in this zone will be lowered to 35 mph.

The road closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 and Thursday, Jan. 23, causing significant disruptions to traffic.

According to a release, a section of US 60 between Miami and Magma Mine road will be accessible only to local traffic during the closure.

Rock blasting project prompts US-60 closure

A section of the US 60, connecting Miami and Superior, will undergo temporary closure on August 15th. This closure is necessary to facilitate rock blasting operations as part of a highway project in the area. During this time, travelers can expect a detour that may add approximately one hour to their travel time between the two communities.

During the times when the closure is lifted, traffic will be directed by flaggers.

There are no plans to close any facilities over the weekend.
