Colorado Funeral Home Owners Plead Guilty to 200 Charges Over Improper Body Storage

The former owners of a Colorado funeral home, who were involved in a case where nearly 200 bodies were found improperly stored, have taken a plea deal on both the federal and local levels.

The case drew national attention when authorities conducted a raid on the Return to Nature Funeral Home in Penrose in October 2023. Inside the funeral home, a disturbing discovery was made, leading to families demanding justice for the mistreatment of their loved ones’ remains. According to the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, there are a total of 267 victims involved in this case.

In a recent development, the duo admitted their guilt by pleading guilty to a single count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in the federal case. The sentencing for this case is scheduled to take place on a later date.
