A 30-year-old man from Clinton has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a series of thefts, including stealing a car from a local hospital, according to court records.
Garrett Robb appeared in Clinton County Court on Friday for sentencing, accompanied by his attorney. He was sentenced to up to five years for second-degree theft, with credit for time served in the county jail.
Additionally, he pleaded guilty to third-degree theft, receiving a sentence of up to two years, also with credit for time served. However, both incarceration sentences were suspended, and Robb was placed on probation for three years, pending good behavior.
As part of the probation conditions, Robb must complete a program at the Residential Corrections Facility in Davenport once bed space becomes available. He is also required to undergo a substance-abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment, including inpatient or outpatient services if necessary.
Additional conditions include abstaining from alcohol and controlled substances, submitting to random drug testing, obtaining and maintaining employment, and ensuring a stable residence. Robb must also avoid further legal violations.
The thefts took place in April, when Robb targeted Mercy North hospital in Clinton. On April 22, police responded to a report of stolen items, including an iPhone, $40 in cash, and car keys, from an office on the third floor of the hospital.
Security footage showed a man with a beard and dark blond hair entering the office and leaving shortly after. The man was later identified as Robb, who was also seen on surveillance video stealing a red Buick Enclave parked outside the hospital.
At approximately 12:41 p.m. the same day, Robb was stopped while driving the stolen vehicle in Camanche, where officers found medical supplies and $10 in cash inside the car. They also discovered the stolen iPhone, which had been discarded from the vehicle.
