The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) has issued a citation to a Greenwood childcare center for engaging in “inappropriate discipline.”
According to inspection records, a staff member at Kiddie Academy in Greenwood allegedly slapped a 2-year-old in the face with an open hand as a response to the child spitting in the staff member’s face.
The citation was issued on November 8, and inspection records indicate that the issue was “resolved” on November 20.
According to state records, Kiddie Academy is a licensed childcare center, and its license is currently in good standing.
According to Aaron Pankratz, the director of the academy, the teacher voluntarily reported the incident and was promptly dismissed.
Pankratz wasted no time in reporting the incident to both FSSA and the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS).
Pankratz also mentioned that he shared video evidence with the sheriff’s office.
Pankratz stated that they have completed all the necessary tasks as required by the state.
The worker has not faced any criminal charges.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office has submitted their case to the Johnson County prosecutor, according to officials.
WRTV Investigates reached out to Lance Hamner, the prosecutor for Johnson County, who stated that he expects to file charges in the near future.

Recently, an isolated incident occurred involving a staff member who failed to meet our professional and ethical standards.
