Burlington shooting results in 1 fatality and 1 injury

A death investigation is currently underway in Burlington, Iowa, following a report of shots fired. Authorities are actively searching for the suspect involved in the incident.

According to a media release from the police department, officers from the Burlington Police Department arrived in the 500 block of South 7th Street on Sunday at around 10:19 p.m. in response to reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered two victims who had sustained gunshot wounds.

When the officers arrived, they immediately attended to the victims, offering them urgent medical assistance.

According to officers, one of the victims had to be transported to the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Subsequently, they were transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for further medical attention.

Officers stated that the second victim was declared deceased at the scene.

Criminal investigation detectives were called to the scene to provide assistance with the ongoing investigation, according to officers. The incident is still being investigated, and there have been no arrests made thus far.

The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa DCI provided assistance to the Burlington Police Department.
