BLM approves solar project in western Arizona

The Bureau of Land Management announced on Monday that it has approved a solar project with the aim of delivering clean energy to western Arizona.

Jove Solar, LLC has proposed the Jove Solar Project, which involves the construction, operation, and maintenance of a solar facility and energy storage facility on more than 3,500 acres of public land, according to a press release by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

The facility will generate sufficient energy to provide clean power for up to 180,000 homes each year, as stated in the release.

The location of the project will be in La Paz County, which encompasses Quartzite and is situated between Lake Havasu City and Yuma.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced that the project will be connected to the 500-kilovolt Cielo Azul switching station and the Ten West Link transmission line.

The agency emphasized that the construction of the power project will be carried out in a manner that ensures the preservation of the environment’s integrity.

According to a statement by BLM Yuma Field Manager Ray Castro, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is committed to promoting the development of clean energy on public lands in order to transition towards a power sector that is free from carbon pollution.

Castro emphasized the agency’s dedication to collaborating with tribal, federal, state, and local governments, as well as engaging with local communities, stakeholder groups, and industry partners throughout the construction process of this project.
