Police have arrested 57-year-old Donald Haywood in connection with the fatal shooting of a man inside a Brooklyn subway station last month. Haywood faces charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
The incident occurred on September 4 at around 11:15 p.m. when officers responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at the Rockaway Avenue station in Ocean Hill. Upon arrival, police found 47-year-old Freddie Weston with a gunshot wound to the head. Weston was transported to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation led to Haywood’s arrest on Tuesday. Further details surrounding the motive or events leading up to the shooting have not been disclosed.
