The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has taken a 13-year-old into custody on charges related to multiple vehicle thefts.
In September 2024, detectives initiated an investigation into a 13-year-old offender who was known for his prolific involvement in several car thefts that occurred between January and March 2024.
Throughout this period, the detectives successfully established a connection between the suspect and additional thefts, burglaries, and various other crimes.
On Wednesday, Nov. 20, the police secured a warrant for the 13-year-old, charging them with nine offenses related to motor vehicle theft.
These charges include second-degree burglary, where a stolen car was driven through a business resulting in $7000 worth of damage, as well as the theft of $5000 worth of vape products.
Additionally, the suspect is charged with three counts of vehicle eluding, where they fled from the police in stolen cars, as well as felony theft and felony criminal mischief.
On November 21, the following day, authorities apprehended the 13-year-old and subsequently processed their arrest at the Pueblo Youth Correctional facility.
