Arizona woman injured by former boyfriend’s gunshot expected to fully recover

After being shot eight times by her ex-boyfriend in the doorway of her Buckeye home, a West Valley woman is recovering miraculously.

Aniya Brown stated, “I simply knew it wasn’t time.” “I simply knew that I would be able to resume my life in the same manner.”Brown, who is twenty years old, leads a typical college student’s life. She attends Park University in Gilbert to play basketball and study business. The beginning of her most recent relationship was also typical.

“At first, it was kind of like a fairytale,” Brown remarked.

According to Brown, she dated her ex-boyfriend for roughly six months after meeting him on Instagram. In October, she made the decision to end their relationship since their goals diverged.

Brown remarked, “He just didn’t say no for an answer.” “I continued to show up for work, school, home, my house, and really everywhere else I was.”

Brown claimed that he never made her feel threatened. Not until the morning of November 19, when he arrived at her home.

His voice began to take on a different tone. He had a strange expression in his eye,” Brown remarked. “Okay, I don’t feel safe anymore,” I said. I will enter the building. Before I knew it, my door had automatically locked, so I was searching for the keys in my pocket when I heard gunfire.

Authorities said that 23-year-old Jayden Kidd shot Brown eight times. Brown stated, “I had six injuries in my back and two in my arm.”

According to Buckeye police, Kidd then took his own life. At the hospital, he passed away. After undergoing multiple surgeries, Brown is now able to walk with the use of a cane.

Every bullet just struck tissue. My arm sustained the most harm. “It has two separate fractures,” Brown stated.

Brown stated that although she considers herself fortunate to be alive, she does not consider herself a survivor. Brown stated, “As of right now, I’m just focused on getting healthy again, but you could think about that side of it, too.”

She wants people to understand that there are many different forms of domestic violence.

It doesn’t always manifest itself as violence. Sometimes it might be overwhelming love that leads to strange endings, or it can be obsessive love,” Brown added.

It is anticipated that Brown will fully recover. In her junior and senior years of college, she hopes to return to the basketball court.
