Arizona troopers apprehended the driver accused of firing a gun on I-10 on Christmas Eve

A Mexican national was apprehended by state troopers on Tuesday night for allegedly firing a gun while driving on Interstate 10.

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers received a call about a person shooting from a black Chevrolet Tahoe traveling westbound on I-10 near Guadalupe Road around 11:30 p.m. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or property damage.

DPS confirmed that another driver, who witnessed the shooting, reported the incident and proceeded to follow the Tahoe from a safe distance. This driver provided ongoing updates to the dispatcher.

State troopers apprehended the shooter after conducting a traffic stop on northbound Interstate 17 and Glendale Avenue near north Phoenix. The individual behind the wheel, identified as Luis Ventura Mendivil Mendez of Mexico, was taken into custody without any complications, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The suspect was taken into custody and was later confined in a Maricopa County jail. He is facing charges including driving under the influence (DUI), firing a firearm within city limits, engaging in disorderly conduct with a weapon, and unlawfully possessing a firearm.
