Multiple law enforcement agencies are currently on the lookout for a man responsible for the tragic shooting and subsequent death of three individuals on New Year’s Day. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into this horrific incident.
According to investigators, the suspect entered the Clark’s gas station on St. Peters Street in State Line, Mississippi, which is located west of the Alabama line.
Chief Deputy Brad Warrick of GCSO stated that the suspect had positioned himself outside the rear of the building, patiently awaiting the opening of the gas station.
According to Warrick, there was one customer present inside the store along with the clerk.
Warrick expressed his strong disdain for the man, calling him a coward. After watching the video, Warrick noticed a complete lack of remorse for human life. He emphasized that he and his team will not rest until this man is apprehended and held accountable for his actions.
Rhonda Denson, the clerk who tragically lost her life, has been identified by a family member.
Her daughter Malisea Ellington told FOX10 News, “My mama was very loved and respected. It’s difficult right now under these circumstances that she’s getting her flowers. She shared so much with us and her children. She was sweet and she was kind, and I’m really sorry that this happened.”
According to deputies, the stolen vehicle was found four miles down the road off Highway 42, but the suspect was not at the scene.
Authorities have not yet identified the suspect, but they are cautioning the public to consider him armed and dangerous.
Just over the state line in Alabama, Sheriff Richard Stringer of Washington County reported that authorities are currently conducting a search for the suspect in a two- to three-mile radius outside the State Line area. To aid in the search, dogs are being employed to track the suspect’s potential path from where he left the abandoned car.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a surveillance camera recorded the shooting, but the suspect managed to disguise his identity.
If you have any information about the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect, please contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office immediately.
