Cleveland police are currently investigating a fatal two-car crash that occurred in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood early Sunday morning. It is believed that excessive speed may have played a role in the accident.
The accident occurred on Memphis Avenue near the intersection with West 60th Street shortly after 1:45 a.m., as stated by a spokesperson from the Cleveland Division of Police.
A 64-year-old man was driving his car west on Memphis Avenue when he attempted to turn southbound into a parking lot, according to the initial police investigation. However, his vehicle was struck by another car traveling in the opposite direction.
A 64-year-old man, whose identity has not been revealed by the police, was found unresponsive and declared dead at the scene by medical professionals. According to the authorities, there were five individuals in the other vehicle, all of whom were transported to a hospital. Thankfully, it is expected that each of them will make a full recovery.
The police department stated that they are currently investigating the incident, but initial findings indicate that speed may have played a role in the crash.
