Since the advent of smoking, individuals have always been willing to sell cigarettes to underage individuals for profit. However, with the increasing costs and stricter laws surrounding cigarettes, it has become more challenging to purchase them.

Demetrius Ragland, a man from Georgia, had a strong desire to save money when he decided to steal 73 packs of cigarettes and 100 lighters from a local gas station. Unfortunately for him, his actions were captured on camera.

He attempted to open an ATM with a screwdriver, but his efforts were in vain. Undeterred, he resorted to using a power tool, causing sparks to fly. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to access the contents of the ATM and eventually gave up. Frustrated, he then proceeded to climb over the counter and hastily stuffed cigarettes and lighters into his clothes and a nearby cardboard box.

Ragland set off the burglary alarm, prompting a swift response from the police officers. He swiftly fled into the woods situated behind the station, and a K9 officer skillfully followed his scent to a neighboring residence. In a desperate bid to elude the pursuing authorities, he shattered a window of the house.

He is currently facing a range of charges including burglary, criminal damage to property, possession of tools, obstruction of law enforcement, and criminal trespassing. He is currently being held at Cobb County jail.

The gas station owners are relieved that the officers swiftly caught the suspect and are now working to repair the damage to the wall of their building.
