A horrifying murder has devastated a Chicago family after 63-year-old George Levin was discovered gagged, tortured, and left for dead in his basement—while his mother and sister were upstairs.
According to Illinois authorities, Levin ate dinner with his family on January 26 before going down to his basement living quarters. Just over an hour later, Levin’s sister heard a suspicious noise and went to investigate, only to find 21-year-old Geiderwuin Bello Morales, who told her that Levin was alright and would phone her later.
When her brother did not check in, she returned to the basement several hours later, only to encounter a horrible discovery. According to police reports, Levin was discovered wrapped with duct tape, with a sock pushed into his mouth and partially exposed, indicating a serious beating.
Levin was transported to the hospital, where he died.
After conducting an investigation, police detained Bello Morales and 29-year-old Jefferson Ubilla-Delgado in connection with the murder. Prosecutors disclosed that the two suspects met Levin on a dating app, a disturbing secret that has shocked the community. Both males have been charged with murder and robbery, although it is unknown if they have filed pleas or retained legal counsel.
Levin’s terrible demise has had a profound impact on those who knew him. Friends characterized him in his obituary as a man with a quick wit and a pleasant personality, whose laughter could brighten any room. His family has requested that donations be made in his memory to The Center on Halsted, an LGBTQ health and wellness organization.
