Olathe Man Faces Charges For Abuse Of 6-Month-Old Twins

An Olathe man is accused of abusing his twins.

Lance Austin Woodward is charged with four counts of child abuse. Court filings suggest that the alleged assault occurred at Woodward’s Olathe home.

According to an affidavit, Woodward contacted paramedics in November after one of his six-month-old twins showed no signs of responsiveness at home.

Doctors at Children’s Mercy Hospital made a diagnosis of multiple brain bleeds in the baby, known as L.W. Additionally, L.W. had bruising on the upper back, both ears, and a cut on the tip of the tongue. To address the severity of the injuries, doctors opted to intubate and sedate the baby.

The injuries were determined to be intentional by doctors, who promptly contacted the police on November 13th.

According to the affidavit, doctors have also concluded that the other baby, known as T.W., has also experienced injuries that are consistent with abuse.

According to doctors, T.W. had bruises on the jaw and abrasions around the neck.

Woodward confessed to three incidents in the affidavit. These incidents involved shaking L.W. and exerting excessive pressure on T.W.

Woodward’s next court appearance is scheduled for April.
