3 People From New York And Massachusetts Face Charges Following Two Drug Busts In Maine

Two Suspect From Massachusetts Were Arrested in South Portland

On Saturday, February 8th, South Portland Police arrested two individuals from Massachusetts following a police pursuit that commenced around 1:30 a.m. Initially, an officer attempted to stop the speeding vehicle, but the driver refused to comply until reaching a dead-end. In a desperate attempt to evade capture, the driver reversed the vehicle and collided with the bumper of the police cruiser. Eventually, the occupants were compelled to exit the vehicle at gunpoint. Subsequently, a thorough search uncovered significant quantities of suspected drugs cleverly concealed in popular candy packaging.

Two individuals are facing several charges:

Hamza A. Mahamud, a 21-year-old resident of Roxbury, Massachusetts, was behind the wheel of the vehicle.

Gerald A. Daughtry, a 33-year-old resident of Roslindale, Massachusetts, was a passenger in the incident.

Both men have been taken to the Cumberland County Jail and are currently being held on a cash bail of $30,000 each.

A Bronx, New York Man Faces Charges After a Drug Bust in Waterville

A New York man was arrested by Waterville Police in a separate incident for reportedly smuggling drugs into Maine. After receiving information that the suspect would be returning to Maine on February 6th with a significant amount of crack cocaine and fentanyl, authorities tracked him down. According to WGME-TV, upon apprehension, the suspect was allegedly found in possession of 300 grams of crack cocaine and nearly 30 grams of fentanyl.

Andre Jones, a 36-year-old resident of Bronx, New York, is facing charges for two counts of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs. He has been detained at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility, with bail set at $25,000 in cash.

Local law enforcement agencies in Maine are urging residents to promptly report any suspicious activity related to the illegal sale of drugs.
