South Carolina Prepares For Heavy Rainfall And Potential Flooding This Week

A deluge of continuous heavy rainfall is poised to affect Upstate South Carolina, starting from Monday night. There is growing apprehension regarding the possibility of flooding as meteorologists caution that repeated bouts of rain may result in the escalation of water levels on local roads, particularly in areas prone to flooding.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Greenville-Spartanburg predicts an increase in rain showers on Monday night, with the heaviest downpours anticipated for Tuesday into early Wednesday. The areas most affected will be Northeast Georgia, western North Carolina, and the Upstate region of South Carolina. There is a possibility of isolated flooding, especially in low-lying areas and near streams.

Tuesday’s weather forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain, with temperatures expected to reach around 43°F. Showers will continue overnight, and the rain is likely to persist into Wednesday, with a 90% chance of precipitation and highs near 47°F. Additionally, there is a possibility of heavy rain Wednesday night, extending into Thursday morning.

Prepare for wet roads and possible flooding on highways, including I-85 and I-26. Make sure to clear storm drains and stay updated with local weather forecasts. The rain is expected to decrease by Friday, giving way to sunshine and temperatures in the mid-50s.
