A second individual has been apprehended in relation to the killing of 19-year-old Gabriella Watkins in Westmoreland County, Virginia.
The Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office made an announcement on Thursday, revealing that they had apprehended Phillip Owens, a 35-year-old resident of Colonial Beach, during the night of Tuesday.
Owens faces a charge of transporting, concealing, or altering a dead body. He has been denied bond, and his first court appearance has been scheduled, according to the sheriff’s office.
Another individual, Owens, has been apprehended as the second suspect in relation to the murder of Watkins.
Authorities have made a significant breakthrough in the case of a missing Virginia woman, as they have discovered remains believed to be hers. The discovery has led to the arrest of a man in connection with the case.
Watkins disappeared on December 6th. Her grandmother was interviewed by CBS 6 a few weeks after she went missing.
According to CBS 6, it has been revealed that Medina and Watkins were acquainted with each other since their middle school days. However, investigators have not disclosed any information regarding Owens’ potential connection to Watkins.
The sheriff’s office announced on Thursday that there may be additional charges in relation to the case, although it is unclear if there are any other suspects involved at this moment.
