Agents Apprehended Venezuelan Gang Member At Michigan-canada Border

A member of a dangerous street gang was apprehended at the Michigan-Canada border by agents.

The U.S. Border Patrol made the arrest in Sault Ste. Marie this week. They apprehended a member of Tren de Aragua, a notorious transnational criminal street gang from Venezuela. This gang is well-known for engaging in activities such as human smuggling, drug trafficking, and extortion.

The suspect, whose identity remains unknown, was apprehended by agents who had been actively searching for them. The arrest took place when the suspect attempted to reclaim a vehicle that had been previously confiscated.

Since October 1, authorities have apprehended a total of 174 individuals who are undocumented immigrants with connections to various gangs, according to agents.

Law enforcement agencies across the nation have intensified arrests as part of their ongoing initiatives to combat transnational criminal organizations.

“Violent criminal organizations and transnational gangs like Tren de Aragua are a plague upon our communities that rely on fear and violence to reign terror on hardworking and law-abiding residents,” said HSI Dallas acting Special Agent in Charge Travis Pickard.

“By coming together as a law enforcement community to successfully locate and arrest these fugitives across state lines, we have sent a resounding message that we are united in our efforts to dismantle these violent criminal networks and put an end to the lawlessness that they spread.”
