In a tragic case in North Carolina, a 74-year-old woman named P. Ricks was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for the violent murder of her 8-year-old granddaughter, C. Lane. Lane’s life was sadly cut short when she was brutally beaten to death by her grandmother, with whom she resided with her brothers. Lane was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries on February 7, 2023, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
